Ligatne Cultural-Historical Heritage Trail

Ligatne Cultural-Historical Heritage trail is located in Ligatne, the district of Cesis, Latvia. Historical village of Ligatne Paperfactory is a unique example of 19th century Paperfactory environment. It is nominated as a State Urban Planning monument and is included into Gauja National Park teritory. Concept and design of the project of Ligatne Cultural-Historical Heritage trail forsees forming infrastructure and care of the environment, including renovation of historical buildings as well as reconstruction of bridges. Concept and design of the project forsees to develop a Tourist Information center and a Cultural-Historical Heritage trail to visit Historical complex. There are three trails in the concept, where the existing trail system is partly used. One of the trails is completely developed in the proposed part of the project, which allows to introduce visitors with the Historical complex. It contains the Historical centre of the village, two historical housing areas located on hills Skolaskals (Schulbergs) and Rigaskalns (Rigascher bergs), the complex of the Paperfactory, a beautiful valley of Ligatne river with sandstone rocks, platforms for sightseeing and unique historical bridges with persons names on railings (names like “Hugo “, “Eugen “, “Wilhelmine “, “Alexander“, “Arnold“, “Gustav “, “Fricis “) . Historical housing area renovation also includes small local museums with exibition of historical relics.
